Polar Bear Hat - New Crochet Pattern


Baby Polar Bear Hat

You will need:

1 skein of worsted weight yarn – Color: White

1 crochet hook, size F-3.75 mm

1 stitch marker

Gauge: 9 sc = 2inches; 5 rows = 1 inch

Hat measures 6-7 inches from top of crown to the edge and a circumference of 18 inches

Round 1: Starting at the top of the crown - Chain 2, 6 sc in second chain from the hook and mark the beginning of the round. Do not join each round or turn… this is worked as a spiral.

Round 2: (in each of the next rounds, continue to mark the beginning of the round with a marker) – 2 sc in each sc. 12 sc

Round 3: *1 sc, 2sc in next stitch* around

Round 4: * sc in next 2 sc, 2sc in next stitch* around

Round 5: * sc in next 3 sc, 2sc in next stitch* around

Round 6: * sc in next 4 sc, 2sc in next stitch * around

Round 7: * sc in next 5 sc, 2sc in next stitch * around

Round 8: * sc in next 6 sc, 2sc in next stitch* around

Round 9: * sc in next 7 sc, 2sc in next stitch* around

Round 10: * sc in next 8 sc, 2sc in next stitch* around

Round 11: * sc in next 9 sc, 2sc in next stitch* around

Round 12: * sc in next 10 sc, 2sc in next stitch* around

Round 13: * sc in next 11 sc, 2sc in next stitch* around

Round 14: * sc in next 12 sc, 2sc in next stitch* around

Round 15: sc around

Continue with round 15 until piece measures from 6-7 inches from the top. End off.

Ears: (Make 2)

Work the first 3 rounds of the hat, as above

Round 4: sc around and end off

Sew ears to the hat in the position that you like.
